Basic Catechist Formation: Seminar 2.1 (Methodology)

Course Summary

A basic level catechesis for beginners on the use of scripture as methodology for ministry. The is the second seminar in a series of three basic level seminars.   Ensure that you have already completed level Catechesis 001, Seminar 1if you are a new catechist.

Successful completion of this course earns 1.5 CEU's.

General Course Objectives

• To understand the importance of scripture as a methodology tool in catechesis.
• To analyze the pedagogy of parables and adapt them to specific age groups.
• To create a sense of belonging for persons being catechized.

  • To use learn the art of teaching through storytelling (parables).
  • To adapt ways of teaching to suit persons being catechized.
  • To understand the pedagogy of adaptation in ministry.
• Week 2: Inclusion
  • To learn methodologies of inclusion
• Week 3: Transformation
  • To understand the role of religious imagination in catechetical ministry.
  • To understand the ministry of catechesis as one of transformation for both catechist and catechized.
